Tamra
Walderon
Tamra Walderon is the loudest and proudest member of the fightin’ Texas Aggies undergraduate class of 2021 and graduate class of 2022. Mrs. Walderon graduated summa cum laude with her bachelors degree in education in 2021. Additionally, she graduated summa cum laude with her masters degree in curriculum and instruction and received the Distinguished Graduate Award for her cohort in 2022. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology (EPSY) with an emphasis in Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) education. She works as a part-time Graduate Assistant Teacher in that department. Mrs. Walderon is also employed as the Curriculum Development Coordinator and a Graduate Assistant Researcher at the Center of Research & Development for Dual Language & Literacy Acquisition (CRDLLA) and the Education Leadership Research Center (ELRC) at Texas A&M University where she has been nearly five years. Mrs. Walderon lives with her family in Thorndale, Texas. She is a mother of five children and grandmother to two little girls. Her hobbies include reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family.
As a non-traditional, first generation college student who commutes 10+ hours per week, I understand firsthand the unique challenges faced by graduate and professional students. Oftentimes, the needs of graduate and professional students are overlooked. However, the graduate and professional student body represents nearly a quarter of all students on campus. Additionally, these students play a critical role in progressing the university’s land-, sea-, and space-grant mission through their research efforts. Furthermore, some of the graduate and professional students will inevitably become members of the professoriate here and elsewhere and will usher in the next generation of graduate and professional students. Therefore, I am running for GPSG President to champion the voices of the graduate and professional student body to meet their needs this year and help to ensure their ongoing success at Texas A&M University for many years to come.
