This past Monday (7/6/20), the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) within the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced new guidance to end the temporary waiver placed earlier this year due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed international students on F-1 and M-1 visas to maintain their status while enrolling fully online. You may find the brief here: https://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/bcm2007-01.pdf. The GPSG understands that this has only added to the students’ frustrations contending with the global pandemic and would like to remind you that you have our unprecedented support.
Accordingly, the International Student Services (ISS) have said that the University will work with international students to ensure students’ schedule will include at least one in-person course this fall. We also encourage international students to fill-out the Qualtric Survey sent out by ISS to raise any concerns they have related to this matter: https://tamu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1ZgjsIjpGmaWJG5. The ISS will be hosting a Q&A webinar on Thursday, July 16 at 4 P.M to address issues/concerns/questions raised from the Qualtrics Survey. You can register for the ISS webinar at https://tamu.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMpfuqrqzojHNDP90lbXpaknZpv4ba82rbE.

President Michael K. Young has mandated face coverings for all students, faculty, staff and visitors of Texas A&M in the following areas:
- Indoor public areas on campus, except where marked, even if you are alone. This includes all non-private office or residential spaces, such as: lobbies, restrooms, classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, common spaces in residence halls, conference rooms, and break rooms;
- Outdoor spaces where six feet or more of physical distancing is difficult to reliably maintain;
- We recommend individuals have at least three face coverings available to use throughout the week in order to begin each day with a new or cleaned face covering;
- Exceptions to the policy will be granted on a case-by-case basis as outlined in the policy and FAQs.
Please refer to https://rules-saps.tamu.edu/PDFs/34.99.99.M0.03.pdf and https://provost.tamu.edu/Menu/News/TAMU-Face-Covering-FAQs for more information on this.

We are deeply saddened and troubled by the murder of Mr. George Floyd, we send our condolences to his family and friends. Our hearts also go out to those who are hurting and frustrated. The GPSG aims to serve and support students and it is in that vein we declare the time for lip service to be over. Our Black students are hurting, and it is our duty to amplify those concerns and do our part to address them. If we truly want to signify ourselves as “Aggies,” we cannot remain silent or inactive on racist incidents and issues on or off campus. Silence is unacceptable, non-action is unacceptable. To our Black students, we hear you, we see
you, and we will fight alongside you. Our team will host an emergency meeting later this week to discuss what further actions we will take as a body. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions or concerns, please let us know.
