The Guseman Award is an annual achievement award that recognizes a graduate or professional student member of Texas A&M University that has made outstanding contributions to the success and prosperity of the welfare of a graduate student or group of graduate students. The Guseman Award will be announced and distributed at the GPSG End of Year Banquet.
Dr. Lawrence Guseman was a mathematics faculty member from 1967 until his death in 1991 and a former Dean of Graduate Studies.
The nominator must provide a brief, clearly written statement indicating why the achievement is deserving of an award, not to exceed 600 words. The award's criteria include evidence of scholarly accomplishment beyond the completion of course work for the degree, including: Demonstration of excellence in completing thesis, seminar paper, or other culminating project; superior performance on comprehensive examinations; demonstration of excellence in academic or professional internship or practicum; involvement in research and other scholarly pursuits; and demonstration of leadership in the graduate program.
